The Wrap Up
In December, Australia’s sales market experienced a seasonal slowdown in cross-border digital buyer activity. Interstate inspections accounted for 15.7% of total digital sales activity, down from 20.5% in November, while international interest declined to 2.6%, reflecting reduced buyer mobility heading into the holiday period.
This pattern aligns with typical end-of-year behaviour, as both domestic relocation and overseas search activity ease during December.
Regional performance highlights (December):
- Sunshine Coast: Interstate activity decreased to 19.8% (−4.8%), while international interest declined to 2.9%(−1.8%).
- Brisbane: Interstate activity decreased to 16.8% (−4.6%), while international interest declined to 2.4% (−2.3%).
- Gold Coast: Interstate activity decreased to 20.1% (−5.3%), while international interest declined to 2.1% (−2.2%).
- Sydney: Interstate activity decreased to 11.4% (−3.0%), while international interest declined to 3.3% (−3.5%).
- Melbourne: Interstate activity decreased to 12.7% (−5.7%), while international interest declined to 2.5% (−3.7%).
- Perth: Interstate activity decreased to 13.6% (−5.5%), while international interest declined to 2.7% (−2.9%).
Interstate and international buyer activity softened across all major markets in December, reinforcing the role of digital inspections in supporting buyer engagement outside traditional peak periods.
