The Wrap Up

  • Overall, August saw a slight drop in the average interstate rental inspections from 26% to 24.7%. That’s 1 in 4 rental inspections around the country coming from outside the state the property is located in.
  • The Sunshine Coast is seeing almost 35% of rental inspections coming from interstate, and almost 10% coming from overseas.
  • Brisbane is seeing 26.2% inspections from interstate and almost 10% from overseas. This is up from 18.5% in June and 25.4% in July.
  • The Gold Coast is seeing over 30% of rental inspections coming from outside Queensland, and 11% coming from overseas.
  • Melbourne is seeing 21.4% of rental inspections from interstate, up from a low of 15.3% in March. Almost 10% of renters looking at Melbourne properties are inspecting from overseas.
  • Sydney’s interstate inspection numbers are sitting steady 11.6%, with another 11.7% of inspections coming from overseas.
  • Over 20% of Perth’s rental inspections are from interstate, with over 7.2% coming from overseas.
