The Wrap Up
Across the nation, we’re continuing to see strong remote property interest, though with some shifts from the previous month. In June, 22% of rental inspections were conducted from interstate, a slight dip from May’s 23%. However, international interest has grown, with 9.6% of inspections coming from overseas, up from 8.5% in May.
Let’s break it down:
- Sunshine Coast: While still a popular choice for sea-changers, interstate interest cooled slightly to 22% in June, down from 25.5% in May. However, international interest has grown significantly to 9.9%, up from 8% the previous month.
- Brisbane: Interstate interest has softened to 22.6%, down from 24.4% in May. On the flip side, international enquiries have surged to 9.8%, a notable increase from 8.3% last month.
- Gold Coast: Remains a clear favourite for interstate migrants, with interstate interest climbing to 28.5% in June, up from 26.2% in May. International interest has also grown, reaching 10.9%, further cementing the Gold Coast’s appeal to overseas renters.
- Sydney: The harbour city continues its upward trajectory, with interstate interest growing to 16.6%, up from 14.1% in May. International renters are also increasingly eyeing Sydney properties, with overseas inspections rising to 9%, compared to 8% the previous month.
- Melbourne: While still attracting significant attention, Melbourne saw a slight dip in interstate interest to 21.7%, down from 23% in May. However, international interest continues to grow, reaching 11.1% in June, up from 10.6% last month.
- Perth: The Western Australian capital experienced a cooler June, with interstate digital inspections dropping to 21.2% from 24.1% in May. However, international interest saw a slight uptick to 7.3%, compared to 6.9% the previous month.
