Digital rental inspections in February reveal shifting trends in both interstate and international interest compared to January. While the national average for interstate viewings remained steady at 22%, international interest declined slightly to 10.4% (-0.7%).
Here’s how each region performed:
- Sunshine Coast: Interstate demand held steady at 27.4% (+0.1%), maintaining the highest in the country. International interest continued to rise, reaching 10.5% (+1.7%).
- Gold Coast: Interstate inspections increased to 23.6% (+1.2%), showing renewed demand, while international interest declined to 9.4% (-2.5%), suggesting a shift away from overseas renters.
- Brisbane: Both interstate (20.6%, -1.3%) and international (9.5%, -1.2%) inspections declined, indicating a cooling in demand from both domestic and overseas renters.
- Melbourne: Interstate demand dropped to 22.1% (-2.2%), while international interest remained relatively stable at 8.2% (-0.2%).
- Sydney: Interstate demand rebounded strongly to 16.8% (+3.0%), recovering from January’s dip. However, international inspections dropped to 11.8% (-2.5%), signalling decreased interest from overseas renters.
- Perth: Interstate interest softened to 21.6% (-1.3%), while international demand increased to 13.1% (+0.4%), making it one of the strongest performers for overseas inspections.
